Damon Elliott aka Dolla Dame
To simply say that Damon Elliott is talented would be an understatement. Possessing one of the most creative minds in the music industry, at the age of 33, Damon Elliott has already accomplished more than most people dream of. He is a highly acclaimed producer, writer and musician whose discography reads like a celebrity guest list at an exclusive party. His ingenuity has blessed the careers of multi-platinum artists Beyonce, Jessica Simpson, Destiny’s Child, Gwen Stefani, Mya, Pink, Bone Thugs-n-Harmony and Macy Gray, just to name a few.
Most recently, Damon received accolades for the writing and production he displayed on hot R&B sensation Kelis’ trend setting new album, Kelis Was Here. His four songs include the new anthem for independent women everywhere, “Bossy”. He’s also the mastermind behind newcomer Keyshia Cole’s skyrocket to stardom. The first artist released on his personal label, Confidential Records, Cole’s album brought in over a million in sales, making her certified platinum.
Damon has also penned songs for several movie soundtracks and is quickly becoming the go to guy for movie scores. He co-scored the movie “Malibu’s Most Wanted” starring Jamie Kennedy and wrote, produced and scored the music for New Regency’s “First Daughter”, starring Katie Holmes and directed by Forest Whitaker. His work can also be heard on the sound tracks for movie favorites “Mean Girls” and “Fat Albert” and will be in New Line Cinema’s upcoming feature, “Son of the Mask”.
The son of classic songstress Dionne Warwick, Damon developed a love for music as a child while singing duets and background for his mother.
“I always wanted to do music. Growing up around my mother, Quincy Jones and Bert Bachrach I was eating, breathing and sleeping music. So, in the end I wanted to do nothing but live it. My biggest inspiration is my mother. She showed me how to make it in this business. To this day I still use her as my sounding board,” says Damon.
The story of his catapult into the producer’s seat is an amazing one centered around a chance meeting with Flesh-n-Bone of harmonizing rap group Bone Thugs-n-Harmony.
“I had just bought my equipment when I met Flesh-N-Bone in a studio where my mom was working. He introduced me to Layzie Bone and after I told him I was a producer, he told me to come back the next day and bring some tracks. Well, I lied. I didn’t have any tracks, so I went home that day and made 11. All 11 made in on Flesh-n-Bones solo album,” says the mega producer.
The album, T.H.U.G.S., went platinum and launched Damon into the big times. His method of painting a complete picture with each song, while delivering melodies designed to make audiences feel his tracks deep within their souls is churning out hits. To date, Damon Elliott’s writing and production skills have contributed to the sale of over 68 million records!
Usually an influential fixture behind the scenes, Damon is now slowly emerging into the limelight with the creation of his label, Confidential. Look for the appearance of his alter ego, Dollar Dame, in the first rap group from Beverly Hills, the BH Gangsters. He may be ahead of most but this young man works like he’s just getting started. Expect nothing short of excellence as Damon Elliott continues to discover and develop new talent, while taking his own abilities to new heights.
